Dear Reader,
Luxury's Blind Spot
I spent last Tuesday afternoon walking through one of London's most celebrated food halls. Beautiful displays. Impeccable packaging. French macarons in every shade of pastel.
And I realised: I see these flavours time and time again.
Rose. Pistachio. Salted caramel. Variations on a theme that stopped evolving a long time ago. Meanwhile, the world's palate has moved on. We stream global artists. We collect African contemporary art. We book tables at Michelin-starred West African restaurants months in advance.
But walk into luxury retail, and the confectionary section is still stuck in Paris, circa 1950.
Innovation in premium retail is risky. It is easier to stock another rose macaron than to introduce a flavour profile most customers cannot pronounce.
But here is what is also true: luxury thrives on discovery. The thrill of tasting something you have never experienced. The story you tell at dinner parties. The gift that makes someone stop and say, "Where did you find this?"
That is the space BEKIRI occupies. And it is the space premium retail desperately needs to fill.
Madagascar to Namibia: A Tasting Journey
Before these reach the counters they are destined for, I want you to taste what is coming. Three macarons. Three territories. One box.
Madagascar & South Africa: Vanilla & Rooibos
Not the synthetic vanilla you have tasted a thousand times. Real Madagascan vanilla (the kind that costs more per kilo than silver) paired with the deep, naturally sweet rooibos that has been brewed in Southern Africa for centuries. The shells are delicate. The ganache is unapologetically bold.
Kenya: Chocolate & Kenyan Black Tea
Kenyan tea is among the best in the world. We are putting it where it has always belonged: alongside single-origin chocolate. The result is a macaron that tastes like the best 4pm you have ever had.
Namibia: Moringa
This is the one that stops people mid-bite. Moringa (the Miracle Tree) has been used across the continent for generations. Its flavour is subtle, earthy, but bright. We pair it with white chocolate to let the moringa lead. It is the macaron that makes people ask questions.
The Window Before the World
These macarons launch publicly soon. But for now, they are exclusively available here.
Three flavours. One box. Delivered.
Premium retail shelves only change because customers demand it. Every order is a signal. Every conversation you have about what you tasted. Every photo you share.
You already know what happens when culture pushes into spaces that were not ready for it. The spaces expand.
With gratitude,
— Annabel Ola

P.S. It is not too early to think about December.
These make the perfect gift that gets remembered: unexpected, unique, and impossible to find anywhere else.
